A bit of a break

So here I am 8 weeks into nursing school and I am still alive and kicking. They told us that if we made it thru the first 8 weeks we would be ok. I will admit it is kicking my butt but I am passing and doing good. I'm more tired than I used to be but I'm sucking it up and dealing with it. Other things getting in the way are family issues. My stepdaughter is becoming a bit bold if I may say so myself. We found out last week that she has been texting on her cell phone at school everyday since the first day of school so she is on total restriction for 30 days, no phone, tv, computer, or ipod. Then 5 days into we caught her on her computer at 630 in the morning playing games so that is gone for 60 days. Then yesterday we found out that my stepson is picking and choosing what homework he wants to do and when he wants to do it. Plus he brought home several bad grades yesterday. But that is easily fixed, he was doing his homework in his bedroom but now he has to be back up at the dining room table doing it and agenda checked everyday. The youngest has a very bad attitude, he thinks he's the boss and nothing we do gets thru to him. I'm not really sure what to do. But his teachers say he is very good in school never gives any problems and does his work. They wanted to move him up a grade but he's too young still. Well that's all about life right now.

Well that had nothing to do with scrapping, but this does. I know I haven't made anything in a while, and I probably won't have time until I go on Christmas break so please bear with me. I have a few things twirling around in this brain of mine and it will be worth the long wait. What you'll probably see is a few paper packs for winter and Christmas. Maybe some new years stuff and some overlays. I loved making those last time and they were a real big hit.

Well that is all for now.

Been a bit busy

I hope everyone is enjoying their last few weeks before school starts. Or maybe school has already started for you. If so I hope it's going okay for you. Nursing school started on Aug 17 and I don't think I had a chance to breath until yesterday when I took my first test.

Hopefully I will find some time to open up photoshop to design, but for now I need to focus on school. If anyone wants to throw me out some suggestions maybe I can work on one thinkg at a time. I won't be able to throw it out there it may take me a week or two but I could slowly work on it. Just let me know.

coming Along

so how is everyone lately? Me, I'm fantabulous. I am almost ready for school to start. Which it starts next Monday. YAY!!!!!! I've already got my books, just waiting on clinical uniforms. Can't wait for this weekend. I am going camping for a few days for a last little bit of relaxation time before monday. I've written about my project of painting my son's room. Well I am almost finished I just have to finish painting the tv stand. We decided to paint his room a darker blue and paint his furniture white with the exception of his bed. He wanted a red room but when we painted the kitchen red we decided we would never paint another red wall in our house. So we painted his headboard and footboard red just to please him. So I will be finished with painting hopefully by tomorrow evening.

Well as I promised i would have some freebies before I started school. I have several things that I am working on and they will be posted by Thursday. I have few final things to do with them. I can't wait to share them with you all. I think they will be a hit. Well I must be going I have some things I have to drop off at UPS and USPS. Plus I have to pick up my stepdaughter from a birthday sleepover in a little while.

Oh yeah, and be on the look out. I am going to redecorate my blog with some of my papers.

Eastern Shore

I love it there. This is the second summer we've taken our family vacation to the Eastern shore. We go camping there at Cherrystone. It's gorgeous, lots to do, and on the bay, so every evening I get to enjoy the sunset.

I probably won't be blogging as much come time for school, which is Aug. 17th. So I'm going to try to get some freebies out before then. I have three full weeks before school officially starts so I have 3 weeks to figure out what I'm gonna do.

Anywho, I am going to jump out of here and get to cleaning house. I've been at school for orientation all day and have gotten nothing done.

going out of town

Yeah I'm going out of town again for the weekend. This time only about an hour away. We decided at the last moment to go camping for the 4th of July weekend. Last year we went and it was crazy. It was our first trip out in the pop up and it rained the entire weekend. The day we were packing up we realized that there were serious issues with the popup and returned it only after having it for 4 days. But ended up getting the one we originally wanted. It's bigger, and not as much work involved in setting up camp.

I'm going to be really busy today with running errands so I will look for inspiration pieces to get my muse going. Tomorrow I will start working on papers to get out a freebie by Sunday because there is no internet where we will be.

Tomorrow....

Well, I didn't get my preview out as planned the other day. Perfectly good reason though...we decided to leave a day early for our vacation. It gave us more time to spend with family we only get to see about once a year. It was the first time I made the drive alone, and really it wasn't all that bad. The kids were good, and they've stayed good since we've been here. The only problem I had on the way here was the car. It was acting a bit funny for a little bit but oh well. It'll be alright. We'll make it home in tomorrow. Well actually today.

As for the preview, I won't have one. I have been working on papers at night when everyone goes to sleep, so Monday morning I will have the freebies your looking for, but I have a surprise. But you'll have to wait till Monday morning. Goodnight.

Crayons and Paper

HAPPY FATHERS DAY! to all the dads out there.

Well I got up this morning and cooked breakfast for Red and the kids, and then they gave their dad the cards they made. I love having creative kids. Just give them some crayons and paper, and I'll never have to buy another card again. lol.

I am working on some papers for when I get back from my trip next weekend. So they should be up around July 1st. So check back then for some new freebies. Hopefully I'll have a preview of whats to come before I leave thursday morning, so probably WEDNESDAY night.

Have a good week everyone.

Rays of Light

I haven't had such a great few days. Next week we leave for PA, so I probably won't have any freebies for you untill the following week. Anyways, my grandmother was supposed to join us in PA, because I won't be able to get to Martha's Vineyard this summer because of everything I need to get done for nursing school. Yesterday she preceeds to inform me that she probably won't come because my aunt has decided that she wants to come, but my cousin won't be able to come until later because his school gets out next week and he wants to come to. Now granted my aunt has muscular dytrophy, but seriously she only gets to see me once a year, and she told me she WAS going to be there. Then this morning I was cooking breakfast and the bacon grease popped up at me and I have a burn on my cheek, not a big one, but it still burns, I put some medicine stuff on it so it should be ok.

Now for the FREEBIE.

Funny....hahahahaha

Today was so funny, it was the first day that they were out for summer vacation. Well anyways I was fixing him his lunch and he wanted ravioli's and he told me that he only wanted half a can. I told him he was going to eat the whole can. He then said "Yes mommy, I'm an American, and American's eat the whole can of ravioli." Isn't that just adorable?

Pleasantly Pink

Wow, I just got done watching the DARK KNIGHT, it was awesome. Was never really a fan of Batman except for the one with the penguin in it, but this one was really good. Since this is the first time I've watched it, I actually think I may have read a little into things. What I mean is Heath Ledger took his own life before this movie was even put in movie theatres. In the end of the movie, when he was hanging upside down, he made comments about how he would die, and it just had me thinking about what he was thinking in his real personal life. The way he was acting out those last scenes, and the expressions on his face just got me thinking. I am getting way too deep for a scrapbooking blog but it was just running throug my brain is all.

Now on to why you are really here, the 3rd freebie today.

Chocolate Delight

I've been cranking them out, and I don't have any plans to slow down. Now up....CHOCOLATE DELIGHTS

Download here

I think ya'll will love this one. These colors are great for heritage pages. Now I'm going to start my pinks.

Well so far today, I have managed to do NOTHING. Well I did clean the kitchen, but it needed to be done. I got Aaron to take a nap which is how I got the papers done. Now I'm waiting on the direct TV people to come fix my satellite reception to my bedroom. They were supposed to be here by 4 and I just got a phone call that they wont be here till 430-5. How annoying because I just want to fix dinner.

Are you ready?

I have been working all morning on this, between getting breakfast for me and my son, and making sure he gets dressed and teeth brushed, and watering the tomatoes, I got another one done. This time it's white black and gray in one pack. They all tend to be in the same color family so why not stick them together. So now for WASHING WHITES

Download here

Right now I am going to download some shapes and brushes for PSE because I want to be able to do some different stuff when I create some papers after I finish my brown and pink. Those will be up by the end of the weekend, then I will start working on some new designs for my papers. I will be back later with some pictures from Brittany's 6th grade graduation. And hopefully the next paper pack.

Didn't I tell ya?????

I got it done, but maybe it's because I don't have the husband home this weekend, and the boy is sleeping. Anyways here is the next color in this series of papers Scratch My Orange

Download it here

I will be back tomorrow with pictures of Britts 6th grade graduation., I'm getting tired. Have a good night

Oranges and Bananas....

I know that is pretty random....but hey I'm at home just me and I need something to say. Actually I am going to work on some orange papers tonight. I mean hey I got those yellows done and out in one day. I would ask for some help in creating some of these papers, (I mean as in ideas) but honestly I don't know what half of the words mean when it comes to designing. So I just pick some textures, add some color, gradients, and patterns, and viola, I have a paper, it takes about an hour and a half for me to make a paper pack, if I do it all in one shot. Well I have to go feed dogs, be back later.

If you download leave me some blog love

A few pictures from this week....

Ok, so earlier this week we had a really bad storm. It was CRAZY. Until I can get back on here later to post more about it, thought you'd all like to see a few pictures from the damage. Now to prepare you, I want you to know that there was no hurricane, thought the photos will say otherwise, this storm lasted all of ten minutes....

Picture above: one of my neighbors, across the street, tree completely out of the ground
Picture below: her neighbors truck under her tree, couldn't even be seen from street

Picture below: the top half of the tree, and power lines it took down

Luckily the only loss this storm caused was the truck, we were all lucky that worse didn't happen.

I will have the yellow paper pack freebie up tonight...so look foward to MELLOW YELLOW

What a weekend

So how was everyone's weekend? Mine...very busy. Friday, it was just me and my son because the other two were at there moms for the weekend, and my husband was working till 9 at night so he wouldn't have to work on Saturday. Love him for that. Saturday was a very eventful day. We started our day by going to look for trellises for my rose garden, because it is over growing and they seem to want to climb something. We went to like 4 or 5 stores and no one had any that were priced within reason. $200 bucks is a little to steep for my liking. So instead I bought 10 geraniums, and 2 elephant ear plants to go around the fish pond. Then we finally got to go to lunch. We went to Red Robin, because thats where Aaron wanted to go. Got home took a nap, well tried to, but the dog kept getting in my face and waking me up. She only chooses to be a nusance when people are sleeping. How strange is that? Then yesterday, we worked on getting my son's room going, tomorrow it will begin to be painted, YAY YAY!!!!. That means it will be done before I go to PA, to visit family. That's really all but now I have to go plant those flowers we bought on Saturday.

Yes I am working on the yellow pack of papers, will be done by the end of the week.

It's the new paper pack by ME...It took me a few days to get this where I wanted and now finally here it is.

Something New

Well no it's not another freebie YET. It's a slide show of some of my LO that I've done. All of the products I've used on them have come from DSP. I'm actually excited that I've actually been able to bring my blog to a whole new level in less than a week. I know I still need to tweek the design of my blog a bit, but for now it will just have to do. There is just to much to do and so little time to get it done in.

So my day will be full of cleaning, shopping (for groceries), and laundry. YAY :( So in the meantime, I will go get that started because I have a few errands to run as far as shopping goes. Maybe I'll be back later. Have a wonderful day all.

And Another

So as I told you the ohter day...or yesterday, I would be working on getting the blue and the red papers out soon. Well here is the blue, and honestly my favorite so far. But I think it's because it's my favorite color. I'm starting to get the hang of making them and it's pretty fun. I only wish I could make some elements but I don't think thats going to be anytime soon. I just have way to much going on at the moment, with getting all of my nursing school stuff together. I also have a trip in about 3 weeks that I have to prepare for, 2 birthdays, a moving up to middle school ceremony, and last day of school. Bwahahahahahaha!

And finally the freebie

Remember to leave so blog love if you download any of the freebies.

I have some more freebie papers, but I don't think that I will get them out today, I have a really bad headache after I tried to do some school stuff on the computer and it didn't work out. I hate when that happens. Anyways, I think that I got my blog layout where I want it for now. Will post credits later on, but right now I think I need to go laydown. My head is killing me.

Slowly but surely

I am getting my blog layout looking up. I messed a few things up with not using the right settings to begin with but will fix in the morning, along with a few other new things, hopefully everything will be looking good by tomorrow afternoon....night.

I did it.....

I finally figured out the whole file sharing thing...so this is very long overdue my first sharing of some papers that I've made.

you can download it here

Now that I have that up....I am also working on two other sets of papers, so I will soon have those up. I'm working on learning how to make elements and such, I'm a slow learner but I also don't have a lot of time right now, I still haven't finished my son's room and I really need to do that within the next 3 weeks, so I need to get a move on it. Hope you enjoy the freebie, and let me know what you think.

Didn't get much...

Scrapping done this weekend but I did get over 300 pictures. WHEW!!!! I think that is why my family hates to get in front of my camera.

Well anyways, we went camping again this weekend, this time to Williamsburg. We had our 5 year old with us this weekend, as it was the other two kids weekend at their moms house, plus it was Mother's Day Weekend, so it was only right they were there. Hopefully in a couple of weeks we can go again with all of the kids. They want to go out to Va Beach so they can get in the pool. LOL. I think we can manage that. Well I got way off topic, when we were camping this weekend, we were looking for something to do with Aaron, so we took him on his first trip to Jamestown. I think he had a good time, he got to go through all of the Indian Houses (actually the wigwams, or longhouses). It's been a really long time since I learned about any of that. He also got to go on the 3 ships that sailed over here in 1607, so he definitely liked that.

I've been working on some background papers, that look halfway decent. Hopefully will get them posted by the end of the week.

Now for some pictures....

The tree/stick men. HAHA.

Aaron and his dad as we're leaving JAMESTOWN.

In the church of the English Settlement, I don't think Aaron was quite tall enough to give that sermon yet

In one of the Indian Houses, that is a real dead bear skin. EWWWW

Out in front of the welcome Center.

OK so it's been awhile......

More like over a month, but hey what can I say. I was busy with school and didn't have time to keep up, but now I'm done, that is until August, and so I will have plenty of time to scrap, and write, and scrap some more but anyways. I know last time I was going to start doing a photo on my blog, and that really didn't happen but not because I wasn't trying to obviously. So in the scheme of things I think I will add a photo for you all to look at.
These are pictures of the sunrise, on the 25th of April. Me and the husband went on our first camping trip this season, and were in the perfect spot to see the sunrise, but I have to be honest, I did not take these, my husband did. My photography skills have rubbed off on him. LOL. No actually he takes really good pictures I do have to give him credit for that.

So here they are:

I'll try to get back later but need to start working on getting the border down in my son's room. AAAGGGGHHHH!!!!!!

Megan McCafferty and the Jessica Darling Series

Now I know this has nothing to do with scrapbooking but here goes anyway.

On April 14th the the 5th and final book "Perfect Fifths" of the Jessica Darling series will be hitting the shelves for everyone to buy. I love this series. I read the first 3 books in a matter of days. When the 4th book finally came out in paper back I was right there in the store to buy it. Now finally, it is the conclusion to Jessica and Marcus.

Let me give you a preview just in case your wondering about the series. "Sloppy Firsts" is about a girl is the braniac an track star of her school. She has a not so great relationship with her family. Then one day in the counselors office , there he is...Marcus Flutie or best known as Krispy Kreme. He is the school stoner. He's also the former best friend of her best friend Hope's brother whom died of an overdose. After Hopes parents move her to Tennessee Jessica has a hard time getting on without Hope. That is until Marcus. You gotta read the book to find out more.

After many trials and tribulations since her and Marcus got together, there is finally an ending. Will they finally be together or won't they. Go get the book April 14th to find out.

Loving the scrapping life

Hey ya'll! What is going on with everyone? I know it's been a little bit, but I've been having a ball creating these wonderful pieces of art with such wonderful beautiful kits from DSP. I want to show some of them today because I keep telling you I will and never do. So I'll start with the older ones and post a few every few days.

This one is of my 4th Great Grandfather.

This is one of the two dogs. Hershey (chocolate lab) and Dora (lab/pit mix).

Another thing I want to start doing is posting a picture a day. So here is one.

Another Blog prompt from DSP until....

I can come up with something new to post. Todays prompt was: What needs to be cleaned in your house?

Well considering I try to keep every room in the house clean it is time to come clean and say that MY room is the one I tend to neglect. I hate to clean my room because I spend the rest of my time cleaning other rooms, well the living, dining, and bathroom, and the kitchen. And when I'm not cleaning thoses rooms I am doing laundry. I hate to clean. It's not my favorite cup of tea. But since I only have one class this semester and don't work right now I take it upon myself to clean the main part of the house so that my working husband doesn't have to work all day and then come home to clean. I think it is rather nice of me. But I do require that he help when we do clean our room. Hey I don't mess it up by myself.

10 Favorite Movies

So I am going to try out this blog prompt scrapblog challenge that is done at DSP. Today's is 10 Favorite Movies. Ha Ha I have way more than that so lets see if I can trim it down to 10.

10. The Breakfast Club- even though I wasn't any of those kids in high school I can relate to some of their problems.

9. The Perfect Storm- I didn't get to read the book, but I love this movie because I love George Clooney.

8. Titanic- I was so upset that they killed Leo. I cried until we got to the restaurant.

7. How To Lose a Guy in Ten Days- what can I say? Matthew Mcconaughey is definitely the sexiest man alive and he and Kate Hudson are certainly a good acting pair.

6. Mary Poppins- who doesn't like a classic.

5. John Adams the minimovie on HBO- I love history and I actually made the members of my family watch it too and they loved it and if Thomas Jefferson looked like that when he was young, well I though Thomas was very goodlooking in the movie.

4. Mrs. Doubtfire- two words...Robin Williams.

3. The Wedding Planner- once againMatthew Mcconaughey, him and Jennifer Lopez work well together.

2. Forrest Gump- Tom Hanks is one of my favorite actors and this movie is brilliant. I have watched it three times this week on HBO.

1. Wizard of Oz- This is my all time favorite movie. I watched it day in and day out as a kid, this movie is a classic and is in a category by itself. There is no other movie that can compare to this one...especially for its time. This movie is timeless

It's been a few......

I know it's been a while but hey I've gotten like 2 layouts done since Friday. So yay to me. I have noticed that my LAPTOP has been running much slower since I started downloading all these great page kits and everything else that goes along with digi scrapping so I've been trying to clean up my computer and transfer all of my pics and scrapping supplies to a USB drive. So far it has worked but the real test is when I actually start up Paint Shop Pro. That's what really started getting slow.

Enough about that. I finally learned how to make better backgrounds so I'm going to start doing so.

Later I will post my layouts so that everyone can see.

Friday, February 6, 2009

Finally.........

Ok so I finally got those back ground papers done. I have two sets: one is the purple nights and the others is called sunset on the bay. They aren't great but I will use them for my personal use.

So far I have gotten four layouts done and posted on the DSP website. If you wanna check them out http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=144560.

My first set is called Sunset by the bay. I used a picture I took of the sun setting on the Chesapeake Bay, and made the plaid. I took three different colors from the plaid to make the corresponding papers. I did the same for the purple nights papers.

Here is the set of purple nights papers that I made. I don't know how to post them so you can download them but you can right click save as or save target as them as long as if you post them on the web with your layouts you give credit to me Amanda O.

Some new backgrounds

The photo I used to make this was taken at the circus.
This photo I used is one of a sunset on the Chesapeake Bay

I made this plaid from a photo of deer about a 10 feet away from our campsite in Newport News.

I know that all I've been talking about this past week is my backgrounds. So I am finished with all the backgrounds in my first set of backgounds except for one. So by Monday they should be posted. As I've said before, I've been working on some plaid backgrounds, I made a new one today and I will post the plaids that I've made so far. If you like them just let me know and I'll try to figure out how to put them up there so that they can be downloaded. I don't mind as long as credit is given.

Background Papers

So yesterday I missed my blog because I was feeling really lousy. That's why I hate cold weather. Being sick causes a ripple effect. First I'm sick then the kids then the fiancee.

Well I know that's not what you're here to read about. So I'll be on with it.

The other day I wrote about a background paper I made that was purple and plaid. I also wrote about making corresponding papers. Now I also want to make a collection of plaids. I think that if you have the right colors in your template plaid is a beautiful background. So to update I am going to make a collection of both plaid back grounds now and also corresponding papers to go with each plaid so that you can choose. The reason I chose to start this project is because its easy and fun to do.

Monday, January 26, 2009

I made my first background paper last week when I first started the whole digi scrapping. I got the tutorial from DSP http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/.

Anyways, I really like taking my own pictures and turning them into the stripes and then making a plaid background. My first one was originally of a photo taken while we were camping in late September. In the original picture there were deer walking about 10 feet away from our campsite through the woods. So I turned it into a plaid background. I used it for my first challenge background on DSP. I've made many backgrounds with just stripes, not really sure how I feel about them yet. I still have some tweeking to do. So the one that I made tonight was of a picture of vibrant blues, purples, and redish pinks. I turned it into plaid and it is absolutely gorgeous. I am now trying to make some corresponding backgrounds to go with it. Maybe as I go along I will someday try making some elements to go with it. But I will stick with this for now.
Night everyone.

Posting blogs and Layouts

So I have decided that I will post during the week only for now because the kids are so busy getting into trouble on the weekends that I don't have time to even get on the computer most of the time. So since the kids are at school it's much quieter here during the day.

I have completed two layouts already that I posted on the DSP website and within the next few days I will post them here as well. The layouts are still a little plain but as I get better at this digital scrapbooking hopefully they will look as good as the ones I've seen so far.

Day 1 of my scrapbooking blog

I'm just starting this for the first time, so as time goes on I will get a better at it. I won't be posting any Layouts today but hopefully soon I will. Don't really have any that I have finished and I have to write the credits for them first because I got alot of freebies that I used and mixed and matched.

First off I want to say thank you to the website http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/ for the inspiration to start this blog. I say this because the first time I went on their site I posted my intro and like 3 or 4 people immediately wrote me back. The people on that site are so friendly. I also found some of the people who are members of that site and I checked out their blogs for the ones that had them. They were very interesting and helpful.

Secondly, I love the paper scrapping but this digital scrapbooking is awsome. It's less mess and if you're smart most of it is free if you look hard enough and give the credit and don't try to steal someone elses ideas and creations.

Well this is it for now. I have to go do some house work.
